CUS Palermo hosts Nudging2Move Local Case Study Workshop

On 23 January 2026, CUS Palermo hosted the Nudging2Move Local Case Study Workshop, bringing together stakeholders to select the nudging intervention to be piloted in the upcoming project phase. The session convened coaches, sport managers, university and municipality representatives, and international colleagues in a structured, facilitated process designed to reach a well-grounded collective decision.

The workshop was facilitated by a psychologist and employed the Six Thinking Hats method — a structured decision-making framework that encourages participants to examine a question from multiple perspectives, including analytical, creative, and critical viewpoints. Through this process, the group selected Digital Leaderboards as the nudging intervention for the Palermo pilot. This approach establishes a community ranking system based on step counts or cycling distance, drawing on social motivation, recognition, and shared goals to encourage active mobility among participants.

Local implementation will be carried out through a dedicated Strava Club, with challenges open to participants across Palermo and the surrounding areas. To further incentivise engagement, the initiative will offer non-monetary rewards, including complimentary access to swimming pool and gym facilities supervised by qualified trainers. This approach reflects the project’s commitment to promoting sustainable active mobility through practical, community-embedded interventions.
